Another hopeful day arrives, the sun barely peeks it's head up,
but the clouds move in, the quickest sunrise.
The faces of the locals worry,
adding layers of clothes and to the shops skurry,
as the sight of summer has faded away,
Winter is approaching Day by day.
In the distance the mountains top, the snow appears,
it's not going to stop,
The fields of heather and the the flocks of birds too,
have faded, lost colour, the Glen so askew.

The patch where in the summer we stopped to eat,
where we got gatecrashed by a flock of sheep,
is now a desolate muddy place, void of warmth,
a moment where a memory we wanted to keep,
filth now lies all over the place, muck and blergh.

The haunts of October still feel in place,
the scars on the ground from 5th of November, all over the place,
the trees so bare, peoples expressions too,
December looms, there's nothing we can do.

The world so grey, so dull, not bright
the general feel, a word rhyming with bright,
at that moment when you accept the gloom,
dusk starts to arrive all over the toon,
and the gentle glow of the LED lights,
Mariah Carey, blasted from left and right.
Sales here sales there, buy your chestnuts, throw away care,
as the season of joy approaches now.
it's not here yet, but the shops are selling it,
it's a matter of time and most will be feeling it,
It's the pause in the mayhem, the penultimate month,
the year is ending now, did you know there's no words that rhyme with month?

What a blurb, a poem of whats out my window,
Scotlands people and and their habits all on show,
It's that time of year where I start to feel weary.
Oh no... Januarys not far...
*looks out window*
Urgh, its gonnie be dreary.
If it ain't broke, take it apart, see the bits that make it work, put it back together, and hope it still works.

Daydum, Robbie, you should share more of your work(s). A dreary morning read this is but actually brought a ray of sunlight to my door reading through someone else's poem.

haha Celtic, thank you, I did share it, I wrote it on the spot, after a wee trip to the shop to get milk and doing a bit of people watching. Inspired by the resilience of a wee old lady toddling past my window on her daily way. It was a bit of dark humour, more so a kind of acknowledgement that there's something always over yonder. And that Scotland is freezing cold, wet, windy and grey - aka Dreary. lol
