The original part of our home used to be a toll house and the driveway that runs alongside once was the main access road to the collery (located in the fields behind). The coal mine was demolished many years ago but there are rumours that some of the locals still hear voices of the miners that once worked there.
There have been reports of a ghost dog going by the name of Pongay. The dog was often blamed for accidents and mishaps in the area. In 1836 there was a fatal accident near here when a horse took fright and a young lad was thrown from a vehicle and killed. The accident was blamed on Pongay. |
