They won't change because of using philosophy and science as the only things to guide their decisions. Getting them to believe in psychic phenomenon requires them to overturn their belief that science is correct in stating that consciousness requires physicality and thusly they will see the theories of science as the best answers they can get when, in reality, the psychic energy theory that consciousness precedes physicality can provide answers outside of science. So, they won't change because they will not change the status of science and it is hard to believe that something big enough will happen to cause them to change their view of science.

Their spiritual condition makes them appropriate for the existence they lead. They are terrified of death and so it is always the case that any purpose which might permit death at some point is denied. Choosing to live only one life is to deny the purpose of the others. Clinging to life even when we know that it eventually runs out even for the most technologically advanced results in paralyzation, a vast wasting of resources and failure to achieve true fulfillment. In the meantime, they are also trying to force this way on us. Because we are okay with accepting finite lives resulting in their resources being misspent as they see it, they are glad to do what they do to us and write as off as if we were no better than monkeys. So, yes, the mentality of the universe is of a forceful and selfish nature. If they cannot get what they want then they are unafraid to experiment with different types of forceful approaches to get it, regardless of the (im)morality of those approaches. They are too afraid of death to ever stand up to it in ANY way and they are so stuck on this life that they do not contribute to something beyond it. They also use their good luck to take more for themselves than what they deserve, making life very unpalatable for much of the universe. They are trying to force their way because they are convinced that they are correct and that the correct thing to do is to force the correct way on others (which might hold sway if they had uncovered the 'correct' way).

But the thing that bothers me about what you say is that you say all of them are the same, or that we're treated no different from an animal we have a lot in common with. I've held conversations with monkeys before (sign language, and from things like how the food tasted to teaching me how to use the thermostat) and don't see us as being any bit superior... Nor is anyone superior. Including any aliens (which includes us, as we sort of invaded the world and treat monkeys or octopi or anything else very intelligent like "animals"). That's why I disagree with you. I don't doubt some people think that way. I've certainly met humans that way. They're a little painful.
