This is only what happened to me and by no means what will happen with others or what could happen to you.

With the first guide I encountered, I could not see his face. I could feel his energy and talk to him but I couldn't see his face at all or his body distinctly. That has always been a problem for me since then as I have a hard time on seeing guides or animal guides or spirits in particular.

But through many guided meditations and intention and going to see him every night, I eventually came to a point where I could see his face clearly. This made the connection stronger because now it was like a fully-fleshed out person not just a being with a blurry face.

Through time he was able to show me memories where it was a full submersion; so I could hear/touch/smell/so on in the memory. I do not think this would have been possible if I had not spent so much time trying to communicate with him and spent that time on our relationship.

So what I mean to say is that things take time and effort and a lot of work to get through those sense barriers in order to converse with the guide. I also remember talking to him during the day even though I couldn't see/hear him. I knew he was there and listening, I guess this was preparation for the time when we could talk face-to-face.

Also perhaps you are not meant for communication with your guides right now, or there is a self-imposed block in place, or you have not quieted the voice inside your head or a bunch of other things. Only suggestions because everything is different for everyone.

Well, that is my take on your question. It can happen but not for everyone and everything takes time.

Maybe you could try being extremely specific; by expressing the intention to meet one spirit guide who you need right now and speaking it outloud. Then going into meditation with the intent of only meeting that guide. You know, trying to do everything in a specific way. Then at the end giving thanks, even though nothing happened, giving thanks is a good idea.

This is actually what people should do if they come to a block and cannot seem to get over it simply because it is a lot easier to make a connection to someone who has already been described and talked about.
