I've learned that people change, usually when you don't want or expect them to.
I've learned that to get what you want you have to go after it yourself, even if that just means praying for it, nothing you
deserve is ever just handed to you.
I've learned that blood does not make a family, you can be connected by blood and not be a "family", you can also have people completely unrelated to you be your family - it's all about who's there when you fall, who cares enough to pick you back up, and who is willing to listen when you NEED it, and call you on your BS. Family is about unity, love, strength, compassion - you don't need blood for that.
I've learned that no matter what a person tells you, if it doesn't feel right to YOU, take it with a grain of salt. Unless someone has proof to back up what they say, don't take it seriously - follow your own heart, you weren't meant to follow someone elses.
I've learned that everyone is going to believe what they want - whether it's religion, politics, or that they look good in plaid and stripes - it's nobody's business to tell them they're wrong, as long as their beliefs don't cause them to act in a way that harms someone else, LEAVE THEM BE!
I've learned that love really does conquer all
- Love is stronger than hate
- Love doesn't hurt:
• Rejection hurts
• Losing someone hurts
• Abuse hurts
• Lies hurt
• being manipulated hurts
LOVE heals all that hurt

I've learned that love isn't about what makes a person attractive (physically or otherwise) - that's lust. Love is what makes a person stay, even after you've lost all your hair, all your teeth, you've gained 30lbs and you've started growing hair in places hair just should never grow. Love means never having to say you're sorry, but saying it anyway.
I've learned that no matter how close you think you are with someone, you should never sacrifice your own happiness or intuition if they betray you, because in the end, we all die alone, you don't want to look back on a single regret.
I've learned that pets can be a better comfort than almost any kind word ever spoken, and a cat's purr is a better sedative than any drug I've ever taken.
I've learned that patience takes less energy than frustration, so take a moment, close your eyes and let things happen when they're meant to, they're going to anyway!
