Real in a sense of what? That it works or as in it can actually contact 'the otherside' or 'the paranormal'.

The majority of people (from what I have read here and what I have read elsewhere) have experienced the bad side of it with angry spirits coming through and then not leaving or strange things happening later or some random case of possession (on the fence about that). A few have had rather positive experiences but they are probably 'trained' and know exactly what they are getting themselves into and exactly what they are doing.

I would advise you strongly to not mess with one unless you do know what you are doing and who you are dealing with, alot of amatuers have been scared because of it or 'haunted' later on by spirits who come through and refuse to leave.

Lavenderangelwings wrote a good post on how the Ouija can affect you which is anything but positive but I reckon a good scare-tactic works well enough.

Personally the only time I ever went near one was when I was like....eight maybe and it was made out of paper and a pencil and wasn't actually a Ouija Board session but a seance.

I think a ouija board is more of a focusing tool.  The users are intent on an outcome and focus all their energy to open themselves to the outcome.  When we open ourselves energetically we open to all energies, positive and negative.  People get so excited when they feel something is "coming through" that they don't pay attention to what they are calling in.

After using a board, I've had so many people talk about how they now have a bad spirit, demon, etc that scares them and they can't get rid of.  Like anything else, when a person starts to use a board there are responsibilities and consequences just as there are for any other decisions in life.  Some pleasant, some not pleasant.  But when something unpleasant is the result then they panic and are scrambling around for someone else to fix it.

My advise is to not use anything unless you understand what it is that you're doing.  Learn shielding and grounding techniques and also learn your own abilities, strengths and weaknesses.

No one ever listens though, lol.

I have always wondered if it was real and how to do it also. I also wondered how you can trust the people you are doing it with aren't playing tricks....you never know and with my friends there is always a jokster in the bunch
