Nothing that can be concrete until a level of psychological and emotional maturity is reached (usually an expectation of choronological age factor noted usually as adulthood).

Great thought, we should always make sure people are healthy.

Lastly:
Gifted children will always become a subject of question for many outside of our community of gifted.

The best we can hope, is their safeguard and our patience for the time of maturity to arrive.
*** It should be known that some children are highly developed and mature well before societal norms of chronological age as an exception.  Blessed be

Right you are.

My 8yo was born with a brain/spinal cord defect (or it randomly happened after birth..it's one of those "who knows" conditions).

He underwent emergency neurosurgery when he was 2.5, and was under general anesthesia for about 5 hours. He has a lot of issues stemming from the whole ordeal. He has ADHD, some learning difficulties, some hearing loss, and a lot of motor skill issues.

He used to be able to see ghosts, but I don't know if he still does. He is more of an empath, imo. Even when he saw the ghosts, he would always say how the ghosts would feel. Like the ghosts he said that lived in our house, he always would say "mommy, they aren't scary, they are just really sad".

When my nana died, he insisted on going with me, to help pack up her stuff. While we there, he was the best behaved I have ever seen him. He walked up to my uncle, and said "it's ok if you cry", and then sat, and held my uncle's hand. He spent the day, just walking around, giving out hugs, telling everyone that she was in a better place.

He was the "hero" of the special needs kids, in his class. His teacher called me in for a conference to tell me all about it, and just broke down in tears. She said that she has never seen, that compassionate a child, in all of her years of teaching.

He's a special little guy.

I've noticed some signs of gifts within myself, and I've said to have yet to uncover most by others. I'm 17 and I have ADHD and I've tested to have institutionalized autism (yet I have overcome it and it is not noticed by anyone) so...possibly there is a link from what I've read, who knows Smiley

After reading the post above me I could also add that I have hearing loss, I've had to have reconstructive ear surgery when I was 10. Thus leading to Auditory proccessing disorder.
