Okay. I have no children myself, but i have a lot of compassion for children who are "different" because, for whatever reasons, a few have chosen me to confide in when they are afraid that they are schyzophrenic because they see and hear people who are not there, and they are afraid to tell anyone else because they are terrified of being lobotomized or something.

I hope no-one minds me jumping in here to list a few online resources that I've discovered.

I have discovered that there are therapists out there who actually specialize in helping young folk who are dealing with these fears, and ther are also a lot of peer groups for them, too.

BUT REMEMBER, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO IS TO GET A MEDICAL CHECK-UP FIRST THING IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING, ABOUT YOUR SANITY: THEY CANNOT DRAG YOU AWAY AND LOCK YOU UP FOR TAKING CARE OF YOUR HEALTH, SO DON'T LET THAT WORRY STOP YOU!

I understand your fears completely, but you need to know if there is a chemical or medical imbalance that is causing your experiences. Schizophrenia is a disease with very definite symptoms, physically based ones. It's not just having intuitions, and they can't just lock you up in a psych ward because you have feelings that you are communicating with a spirit. Being a physical danger to yourself and/or others is their main concern.

We all question our sanity at some time, especially those of us who have been visited by the dead Smiley

and it is a healthy thing to do actually Smiley

Get a check-up and put your mind to rest.

Remember, you need not confide in the school nurse exactly what you want to se a doctor for if you worry that someone will gossip about your concern; you need not confide in your parents, if you unfortunately don't have that kind of trust or support there, and i do understand that many, many people do not, including me when i was a kid Wink

. Just mutter something about teenage angst or depression because of an identity crisis - heck they may think you are gonna ask for a sex change or a body piercing on your naughty bits and actually be relieved to find out that it is only a matter of talking to dead people instead Smiley

And when you are at ease with being "different", rest assured that you have come to a site filled with supportive, empathetic, generous people who have much information and experience to share.

Lisa Williams' "Kids with Gifts"

I don't know much about Lisa Williams except that she is a fairly well-known medium. I don't receive her shows on my TV. She does seem very warm and conscientious from what I've seen, though. But she has this website for kids which seems very good, warm and easy to understand, and she has a gifted son herself:

You are right, Chip Coffey is so sensitive to the kids, as are his cohorts. I love this show: haven't seen it on in months but the site says it will be on again on February 9th Smiley
