Are you a SLIder?
07/20/08 at 21:27:37

A man walks near a streetlight and it turns off.
As he continues down the street the light turns back on again.
Do certain people really have a field of influence on electrical equipment?
Is this an explainable electrical phenomenon or the product of unknown energies?
Or do you think that Spirit/Angel energy is a possibility ?

Wow Evie every interesting article..
A story here for you.
When me and Rob my friend went to check out the house we did our investigation in we found it strange that when we went down the road and entered the driveway of the house the lights on the street went out...we went in etc and did out checks and when we left and went onto the street the lights went back on....We laughed about this but on returning about a week later it happened again same senario...so yes I think what you have put can be right.
When we drove past the lights were on not flickering on and off as I thought that they might have had a fault?

Street Light Interference Syndrome / "SLIders"

Is Street Light Interference Syndrome, a person's interference with electrical items, caused by natural electromagnetic fields or is it a psychic phenomenon?

People dealing with this condition are known as “SLIders,” a phrase coined by paranormal researcher Hilary Evans

It is not outside the realm of probability that this may be found to be a natural phenomenon rather than a supernatural one. The human nervous system is powered by electrical impulses that travel back and forth through the nerves, the spinal cord, and the brain. This creates a very slight electromagnetic field, but one that is too weak to affect anything. SLIders, however, seems to have an unusually strong electromagnetic field. When they experience a high degree of stress of emotion, the excess energy seems to be able to travel through the air and interfere with the electromagnetic field of an electronic item. This heightened energy field results in buzzing TVs, blown light bulbs, dead cellphones, and occasionally crazily blinking traffic lights.

I have to keep plenty lightbulbs stocked.

Gave up on watches eons ago, been through 5 mp3 players lol. Forget portable radios lol, as well as cameras.

Libraries, banks, stores, no matter, cash registers quit (recently at movie theater), as well my cards wont swipe lol.

Cosmic connection.

____________________________________

Very often, SLIders also report that they tend to have an odd effect on other electronic devices.

* Appliances such as lamps and TVs go on and off without being touched.
* Lightbulbs constantly blow when the SLIder tries to turn them off or on.
* Volume levels change on TVs, radios, and CD players.
* Watches stop working.
* Children’s electronic toys start by themselves when the SLIder is present.
* Credit cards and other magnetically encoded cards are damaged or erased when in their possession.

Electromagnetic fields in human body:
Electrical currents exist naturally in the human body and are an essential part of normal bodily functioning. Nerves relay signals by transmitting electric impulses, and most biochemical reactions, from those associated with digestion to those involved in brain activity, proceed by means of rearranging charged particles.

Hi Owl

I can confirm that we can interfer on TV STEREO LIGHTS etc, this happens to me very often because I work with magnetism, it has happened very often when I travel and I start concentrating on my wife to say a little hello at distance, she calls me to tell me that the tv went crazy and the house ligts also and could feel the presence.

When I work on a picture for instance the person can be in the states philipine what ever and when I concentrate on the person to help it happens each time that she feels strange things inside

This can seem science fiction to most but it's true

Owl to avoid that this type of thing happen in your home you need to better control what you do and send the energy only on what you are working on, it takes practice but works, I needed to control this from the begining because like you, watches etc everything went wild, this is where meditation comes in, you need to channel, concentation is very important

Thank-you fldragon.

I'm alone, remote on a farm, my work is diversive, unexpected is a constant.

My meditational focus is on my work, being careful, cautious, precise, affording no less.

I like the 'reserve' of energies stored away handy for times of strength in warding off negativity that comes with territory in surviving, overcoming envoirnmental surrounding influences.

You have given me inspirational thoughts to ponder fldragon. I value and thank-you muchly for your insights.

Oh yes, I've noticed this for years. I have to be in certain moods, but there are lights and light fixtures that flicker when I come near. It's not always close, but usually it happens when I'm near or right under it. The light will resume later on, usually after I noticed it for a moment.

No street lights where I live - but my son lives in a city and works nights... as he walks home the street lights go out as he walks by. He cannot wear watches and neither can I - they don't function for long if we try to! I don't watch much TV, try to stay away from it but we do have one in our bedroom and hubby still cant figure why they keep expiring on him and lost track of how many mp3 players my grandaughter and I have demolished.

Hi, I'm not a slider but had this experience. About 5 years ago,  I was having a bad time with my teen to the point I didn't want to go home at night. I noticed streetlights frequently  turning off or on & every time, my Dad would pop into my head (died years ago.) I wondered if it was him doing this, so put a 'control' to this. I had to have driven Past the previous streetlight for it to count. Now there was only a window of 2-3 seconds for it to occur. Yep, kept happening. So I said 'Thanks Dad'. It was comforting. One night I came home & the streetlight in front of our house was out & my hubby had forgotten to turn on the outside light for me. I had stuff to bring in & it was very dark. As I went to open the trunk, the streetlight came on. Big smile Smiley  As I opened the front door, it went out!! Felt like my Dad winking at me as he used to do. Still makes me smile.   Mary

WOW interesting. I used to walk past a certain street light on my way home when I lived at my parents and it would turn off as I walked past it and turn back on when I was past it. Never thought of that before.

Also what is a Slider?

I can't do this on my own...however, I have a friend that it happens with constantly. But, only when we're together.  We had theorized that something about our connection makes us more potent when we are near each other, but we obviously have no real way to prove it.

ive thought about this many time because its often happened to me. Driving down the road a light goes out then as u passed goes back on. Ive been considereing what makes these lights go on in the first place? is their a censor that detects when its dark. So if there is does it detect your head lights an go back off? Why does it only happen sometimes with some lights? bad censor? or is our energy at a peak and we set it off?

Thanks so much for this post!  Smiley
I and my mother are SLIders.  Needless to say when I visit home there are tons of black outs in my parents home. rofl Indeed when Im replacing a bulb and both of us are in the room the bulb has blown as soon as I finished installing it!
I would also like to say my mother's mother had a 'nack' for drawing lightning and has been struck at least 5 times durring Tstorms (dirrectly and through power lines).  She's fine and still alive today.  Perhaps genetic???

Thanks again,
Harpy

This is one of the many reasons I love this website! Answers to questions I didn't know I had. I had a "spiritual awakening" a couple years ago. My boyfriend and I have noticed that our lights flicker, surge or dim when I'm in the room...only when I'm in the room. It never occurred to me that I was the cause. I thought it was a spirit or something. It definitely didn't cross my mind that the faulty street light in front of my place was either. Not just that, but I've had computer issues that baffle the Apple guys...batteries drain, light bulbs pop. I just started shopping at Costco and buying rechargeable batteries. Thank you for the info. It will be interesting to learn more.  Smiley

Hooray I am not alone on this then - I had no idea what a slider was before I read this thread but I have terrible problems with electrical stuff and it drives my hubby barmey !
So far in the 13 years I have been with him I have been through ... wait for it 11 Vacuum cleaners which seem to have a habit of blowing up for no reason , thankfully most of the time my husband is able to fix them or I would have been through well over 20 now . I also go through ovens , electric hand blenders and loads of other stuff . Also lightbulbs are always blowing - one shattered into pieces one day and the bulbs on my car constantly get changed because they always seem to blow.
I don't however seem to blow up my irons very often - my husband would say that its because I hardly use it lol .

Oh wow, now this is something that has been happening recently with me. I live in a small town and we have a lot of light posts. My friends and I often go walking at night and just take in the fresh air during the summer. Well it is so odd because everytime we seem to pass by a steetlight or something it seems to flash and only when we are near it or under it. Well we did an experiment the one night and we all went to the post and touched it one by one. The thing did not go out until I touched it. It kinda startled me because it would only do it when I touched it, and it had me wondering if maybe I was putting off too much energy or even taking too much energy or something.

I have no idea but all of this has been some great insight and I am definitely going to have to research some more.

I thought I was the only one! When me and my roommates would walk my dogs at night, the street lights would ALWAYS go out as I walked past. It would do it with nearly all of them, but there's one specific one that I remember because it always went out when I was really far away, and wouldn't come back on until I was far past it. I tried to tell people I thought it had something to do with me, but they said it's just a coincidence and gave their own explanations. Maybe I wasn't so crazy after all!  Grin

I know a ton about computers, I have been studying them on my own since I was very young, took all the computer classes my high school offered, and went to school studying computer science for a year. I don't claim to know EVERYTHING about them, but some of the things I have seen just completely baffle me. I had one computer that just refused to work for more than a few days at a time, it would just crash and refuse to work for no reason at all, and it would only happen when I used it. Had to send it in to get repaired under the warranty about 8 times, and after that I just gave up on it. Also, the card reader on my current computer, which I built myself, stops working the moment I try to use it for the first time. It's been replaced 3 times, the last 2 times it was installed by someone other than myself to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong, and it was tested out before I used it, too. I never thought about it before, but it does seem like it's related in some way. Hmm...

I've experienced this frequently, when I walk around at night, I usually come across a situation where either a street light shuts off as I pass under it, a random car alarm going off (one time I was sitting in a car and the car next to me started going haywire....multiple times), lightbulbs blowing out or electronics in general going haywire (sucks when you use wifi and you get too excited while streaming music). I've noticed that you can manipulate cell phone signals by intent or disturb digital tv's.

As the mind expands it's capacity to interact with matter outside the body increases? I've noticed that the more relaxed I am, the less it interferes with normal life....

VERY INTERESTING! I use to think I was being way too imaginative when I asked my mom why the light turned off on the street lamps when I would drive by them, I even asked my friends if there was something wrong with them.

I always assumed this was not possible. Now that I read this it makes sense to me. Hm perhaps I am a slider? Hehe.

I never thought about the street lights but now that you mention it, they seem to turn on when I pass them at night  Smiley
Also I go through night lights really fast, they never last. I've had maybe 3 watches in my life, they always broke so I just gave up on them. Cellphones are the same, I go through one every 6-12 months or so... Also my internet goes out alot  Smiley
I used to get static shocks alot when I was younger, everything I touched would zap me...not sure if that's connected  Huh

OH! Also my blender seems to work overtime when I use it Huh

Wow, I didn't know this had a name. When I read Slider, I thought of the alternate reality tv series. I am a slider as you say. Street lights frequently shut off when I am walking past them and start up again after I am away.  I generally have shrugged it off as something odd but now that I know that I am not alone and there is some research on the matter I feel, well intrigued. I shall now look into this more. Thanks.

Another occurrence that I reckon goes along with this is television reception in regards to over the air signals. I amplify it in certain relations to space in a room but dampen it in other areas.

Also with the static shock things, I get shocked touching people sometimes, picking up a gallon of milk, walking down the stairs and touching the handrail, always on an escalator.

So glad I found this post before adding a new topic, I was looking around for some info on what was happening to me...looks like this is the answer.

NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS PLEASE!! Its costing way to much money. Undecided

Okay so here's my problem...
It sounds like in might be a SLIder...is there any way to control this???
From what I've read about the subject "it’s something that can’t be purposely triggered, it usually happens sporadically. SLIders can’t seem to control when they trigger street lights or electronics."(http://www.profilingtheunexplained.com/psychics_mediums/sliders.html)
Also,Meditation seems to raise my  the number of occurrences that I experience rather than lower them.

Some of my experiences:
*lights flicker around me when my emotions run high.(it's kinda a cute, whenever this happens my boyfriend cks for cold spots, haven't found one yet Smiley)
*electronics(any type) stop working for no reason or get fried, if i dont touch it for a few months they magically start working again. (for this reason i have 5 computers, gotta have a back up lol)
* cellphone is always on the fritz, doesn't matter the type of phone either...ive given up replacing them and have gotten use to all the glitches.
* My main problem is that I blow out the electronics in every car that I drive!!! In the past year and a half I have broken 7 cars. Its to the point when I borrow my friends car they notice that for a few days after the car doesn't "act right". Well as you probably guessed, they don't let me drive their car anymore, a few wont even let me in LOL.

The significance of my problem,as I have now deemed it, was fully realized this morning during a trip to the insurance office. With much reluctance my mother is selling me my sister's car, she had refused to do this in the past b/c of my problem. She was the 1st to call it out.
So we go into the insurance office, everything is working fine before we walk in. Mom enters before me and the agent is on his PC helping her, as soon as I walk up it freezes. I sit down to wait for her, she is then directed to go the the agent on the other side of the room. I stay seated where I was until I'm called over to the other agent to answer a few questions. Again, as soon as I walk up his PC freezes too. We have a few min of small talk while he trys to resolve to PC issue, task manager won't even open. The 1st agents computer remained frozen until i got to the other side of the room. Undecided Mom mentions something to the agent about me breaking his computer...she say "she habea to muchie powaay" (moms Korean BTW). He laughs and replies "yeah, some people have static electricity".
Mom makes me go stand by the front door of the office where there are no electronics  Grin before I'm half way across the room(maybe 2yrds) the agent yells out "WOW as soon as she walked away it started working".

Today's events now have me concerned. Mom and boyfriend are both worried about the new car. See I haven't been able to keep a car for over a months time in the past 8months,they usually last me at least 3 LOL

Any suggestions, comments, theories, etc would be greatly appreciated, I'm just at my wits end with this.

Watches for me. Either the batteries drain very quickly or the straps always break. Now I rely on my mobile phone's clock.

Ah, yes, this happens very often with me! Radio interference that is.

-I'll be driving in the car and my friend will have one of those Ipod conversion things where you set the station and blah blah blah, anyway, yeah...I'll move my hand by it and the connection will be lost.
-This also happens with radio alarm clocks, I won't even have to turn/press the channel station change dial/button to make it fade into white noise; I just need to put my hand near it.

Now Lights are similar...
When I'm finding my calm place or meditating I'll find that lights seem to dim, especially in a classroom with argon filled florescent lights. I don't know if it's because less electricity is used, or because of the different enviornment, but either way, it does work best in classrooms which happen to have those lights  Grin

Thank you for this post, ery englishtening about my surroundings, it explains a lot of things nw that I think about it!  Roll Eyes

Ive never heard of the term slider but I cant buy enough bulbs in this place. Maybe it the electrical wiring, however we had our breaker box replaced and it still does it. I have had other strange occurrences but never thought it could be me. Maybe static electricity.

Ive had TVs turn on before where I just go to grab the remote and it turns on. Radios always go crazy but I believe its interference where I am at or my hand is blocking the signal.

Interesting none the less. Ive never tried to see if I could blow a bulb or do anything like that though. It could be that a spirit causes it at those awkward moments who knows.

I had a councillor once due to bereavement and every time she was stressed electrical stuff went wrong. So she was part of an experiment at a university who confirmed it was her causing it. Also I can't wear a wind up watch or quartz watch without painting the back in clear nail polish as I stop them! So I think it's possible

Ibelieve this is true for I've experienced it as well but I think it has to do with energy building up

Never really occured to me that not being able to wear a watch and have it keep working was something to pay attention to, but in hindsight I should have realized huh?  Light bulbs often blow in my house when I'm very stressed or upset, or my daughter is.  i always thought that was odd, now I know why!

Sliders are people whom have such a SEVERLEY imbalanced energy field that it actually affects other electronics. There is definelty certain a practice which can solve this problem and harmonize one's field permanently, but this is not the sole purpose of the practice itself. If any of you are REALLY finding this an extreme nuissance than doesn't hesitate to pm or reply to me.

We all have electricity running through us; without out it our brains wouldn't function.
I suppose an overabundance of electric energy could be an imbalance and I am curious what more you would have to say about this ... please

Well what I can tell you is that I know some people whom have developed VERY powerful energies and supernormal abilities, and they never have a problem with electronic devices malfunctioning within their proximity.

The issue is not really the imbalance itself but more so the cause of the imbalance which could be any number of issues of the individual themself.   What matters is being able to have it corrected regardless of what the root cause or the specific issue causing the imbalance is.

I have a positive impact on electronics of all sorts.

Computers decide to behave in my proximity, regardless of how they functioned just moments before. I've heard the phrase "I swear! It wasn't working a second ago! What did you DO?" after walking up to a computer. It makes my job as a systems integrator much easier.

Traffic lights always turn in my favor, almost to the point of being spooky. I almost never have to wait at a light, and when I do, it's 4-5 seconds.

Cell phones seem to be the exception to the rule. I seem to generate interference of some sort, and my call quality seems to suffer as a result.

Weird, I never thought of it in terms of the paranormal before.

Reading these posts made me feel so much better, glad I'm not the only one, thank you all.
After an operation when I was 18, I had internal bleeding. The doctor thought that I might not survive the operation I needed to stop the bleeding. My mom was waiting in my hospital room while I was in theatre. I had seen a man from our church running up the stairs towards my room so when I came round from the op I asked my mom where he was, she was shocked that I knew he had been as I was already in theatre when he arrived and he had left before I returned.
I think with out knowing it I had left my physical body for a while.
Since then watches stop working when I wear them but work just fine off of me. When I'm very agitated or upset the light in the room I'm in will start to flicker.
Do you think it is related to me leaving my body for a while? I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

My experiences seem to have a pattern to them.

When I am stressed out with any kind of crisis going on....a few bulbs will blow out, the television(s) will lose its signal and my computer will freeze up or do wacky things, along with my cell phone being static and dropping calls.

Depending upon the severity, some or all of these items are affected.

I feel the connection may very well be stemming from "my judgement of an injustice"
Consequently, anger.

But its origin is Fear

That is probably why so many think of this as having a negative aspect attached to it.

When these issues appear, I make myself stop everything and do a 5-10 minute meditation to release my anxiety, my fear. Afterwards, I go back and use whatever electrical items I was using and whatever item I was using returns to normal.

...because seriously, I dont want the added expense of money and time to go towards replacing light bulbs and calling my service providers  Smiley

***And Great for You Laetus for turning a negative into a Positive!  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Its a difficult task to Master:
Making the currents of energy work for you.....especially with the underlying tone of it being a negative!

I do not believe that this is a naturally occurring thing as it started with me after a NDE when I was 19.  After that it happened so frequently that I would tell people dont worry its just my friendly ghost.  It was not until years later that I actually realized it was me causing it.  I have a real problem with cars.  Strange electrical problems or over heating for no detectable reason.  I have blown two engines.  Also phones will cut off when I am stressed or I can't stay online as the internet will fail.  Lights flickering or blowing is very common or turning on or off by themselves. I truely wish I could resolve it.  For anyone with this problem, it helps to put heavy furniture in front of outlets and living in an older building helps.
