I'm not sure where to begin. I guess after the fight with my family, I realized they were right Im disoriented and Im not the same anymore. Lately I've been feeling more lonely, sad, angry, and insignificant not only with myself but everything around me. I have no one to share this with so Im sharing this with you today cuz if I dont get this of my chest Im going to explote. I dont know where all this started, when did I become so small and so scared, when did I started to realized that I was alone surrounded with all these people. There are times when I feel happy and amazing to share certain moments with those I love but then I ask myself if Im truly happy why do I cry myself to sleep almost every night? I feel this infinite loneliness and sadness inside me that dont seem to end. What I am doing? Where am I going? &nbsp;I asked myself and God everyday but I get no anwswers or perhaps Im deaf and blind. I feel as I pray, and pray and God is too busy or cant hear me or its me who cant hear. Then again I try not giving up, but everything I tried to do does not seem to work out or if is working out but at the end Im left with nothing. I look around me and dont like what I see, what I am, or what Im becoming? Rude and unsensible. Inside me, Im so torn that my aching heart is bleeding and doesnt heal. Now, after today the way I acted with my family, they probably think im crazy need help or something. If I could asked someone if they understand how I feel, no one could give me a satifatory answer because in reality u dont. I forgive myself but then everything comes and hunts me down. I have no one to talk to. My bf does not how to deal with this cuz he has always been sure and secure and does know what to tell me, my family does not know how to handle me cuz Im too difficult and after today probably crazy, and my bff and friends think im Miss. Perfect and everything is great. I can't handle anymore, my mask is coming out the more make up I put on in to make it perfect the more cracks it has until the point to break all and my real self comes out. Too be honest that's what Im scared of, that &quot;immature, selfconcious, insecure, vunerable, hurt, little girl&quot; will just come out. No one will be there to catch the pieces of my heart that Im soo trying to glue back. Inside of me, I dream of being this successful woman who can help someone else but how can that be if I cant help myself! At times I taste that success and then it just leaves me craving for more but then it never happens again. When did I woke up feeling so empty, so alone? I never thought I would be writing all this so someone can listen or read. The little hope I have it decreases little by little and I try to not give up. I feel like a soldier in a lost battle where there's never a winner, just losers. I want to develop my spirituality but with all this negativity nothing seems to be helping me. I wished I could hug someone and told them everything inside but then there's no one who can cherish it and understand. Instead there's always fingers pointing at me, expecting me to excel when I cant even raise alone. I see happiness in front of me but I cant reach it like if there was this invisible wall that doesn't let me go through. I remember once when I was happy, and it was long ago in my childhood when the sunshine kiss my hair and the sky was blue and beautiful and I hear and feel the nature surrounding me but then it was over when I had to leave everything behind. And then out of nowhere I felt this mask started to build cuz no one could know or understand what is really going on inside and it was perfect because no one would know what my heart felt because my lips and that mask told them otherwise. Years passed and the mask got old so every now and then I have to retouch it, now no make up can hide the cracks that were always there because no longer I can take that mask on my face, in my life. &nbsp;I used to dream and still do of a tomorrow with a bright sun and a great life but it feels soo far that I can't see it anymore. Where can I go? I can't call anyone cuz either they dont understand or are too busy or think Im crazy or I just cant talk cuz I get angry. What is it that is hurting me soo much? I have no idea, i just know that is killing me slowly. Im not here so people can feel sorry for me, cuz at the end of day I dont care if they feel or not. Im here because I want to show you that sometimes those you are smiling to you and look perfect may be broken inside with a mask like mine, and instead of you telling them how you are take a minute and ask them how they are. If they happen to open up instead of ignoring them or telling them not today or you'll be fine, just listen because those broken hearts are full treasures inside that need to be cherish, secrets that need to be heal and only with love and comprehension can be done. Sometimes we just need to be hear and feel there's no one there. If we take the time just to that, we might hellp someone who could might not be there tomorrow. My reality is harsh, hard, but I hope not impossible. I have no idea where Im going or how im going turn out but Ill tried. I need to let this go, just haven't find the way to do so. There's is many who are call your friends, but where are they when ur feeling this way? No where, because everyone is just so cofused in everything that is surrounding them. I hope that who ever reads this takes a moment to look at those close to them who they love and look in their eyes and see what's really inside or take a look inside and say what you feel. My life is so uncertain that is scary and without anyone is even harder. I hope that my experience can help others realized that we're not always as it seems. For now my summer days will be winter, and there's a storm of mixed feelings inside me that dont let me continue, perhaps this can show u that ur not alone if u feel this way cuz I do too. &nbsp;Listen more and talk less so that you can learn what surrounds you. It is placed over the front door, on the inside of the house, and is believed to help protect against ill-luck, sickness and evil spirits until the following All Hallow's Eve...<br /><br />A new one was made the next year and the old one moved to another part of the house. Often, the old Parshell was placed in the barn to help protect the livestock. Custom decrees that on taking down the old cross, one must say &quot;Fonstarensheehy.&quot; What this means, we have no idea, but we'll try to find out!<br /><br />In the meantime, here are very simple directions for making a Parshell:<br /><br />Materials:<br />1. Two sticks, each about seven inches long.<br />2. Tape or string to tie the sticks together.<br />3. Straw or similar plant material; we purchased a bag of rafia at a craft shop and this works well.<br /><br />Method:<br />1. Fasten the two sticks together at right angles to form a cross.<br />2. Begin attaching strands of straw at the center of the cross.<br />3. Moving clockwise, weave the straw over one stick and under the next, going around the cross. Stop before you get to the ends of the sticks- a few inches of stick should be exposed. Your Parshell is now ready to be attached over your front door, on the inside.<br /><br />Caution: For your Parshell to be effective, it must be made on October 31st - you can' make it ahead of time, nor can you use Irish procrastination as an excuse and make it after Halloween.<br /><br />Beyond making Parshells, here are some other things you can do to protect yourself on Hallowe'en:<br /><br />If there are children in the house, they should be sprinkled with holy water; in the old days, a dead ember from the fire was put in the cradle.<br /><br />To protect against being carried off by the fairies, it was the custom to carry a black handled knife or have a steel needle stuck in a coat collar or sleeve. If by chance, the fairies did lead a person a stray, he or she could confuse them by turning the coat inside out. The fairies would no longer recognize their victim and their attentions would be diverted elsewhere.<br /><br />Wild fruit, such as blackberries, must never be eaten on Hallowe'en night or after that date because it was believed that the dreaded evil spirit, the Púca, had spat on it.<br /><br />Should you meet up with the fairies, it is said that if you throw the dust taken from under your feet at them, they will be obliged to release any captive human in their company.<br /><br />When throwing out water, one must always shout seachain! The worship of Crom Dubh ended in the sixth century, when Christianity came to Ireland and the old sacrificial traditions went out of favor. But Crom Dubh was not to be so easily forgotten, for it’s said that he then took on a physical form - the headless Dullahan - which means dark man - riding his mighty charger and using a human spine for a whip. The harbor at Kingstown, which is now Dun Laoghaire, was littered with debris and the wreckage of battered vessels. Scores of drowned seamen were found on the shoreline. Among those who helped to recover the bodies and clear the wreckage was a Captain McNeill Boyd who was in command of the coast guard vessel Ajax.<br /><br />Three stricken ships - the Neptune, the Industry and the Mary tried to reach the shelter of the harbor. The Neptune and the Industry were smashed against the rocks while the Mary was wrecked further along the coast at Sandymount. Captain Boyd and three of his men set out in a lifeboat from the Ajax to try and rescue sailors clinging to the rocks. As always, the Captain's faithful companion, a black Newfoundland dog, accompanied him. While they were on the rocks trying to save the men, the Captain and three of his men were swept away by a giant wave. When another lifeboat from the Ajax went to search for Captain Boyd and his men, the only living thing they found was the Captain's dog who was still in the Captain's lifeboat.<br /><br />Captain Boyd's body was finally recovered and he was given one of the biggest funerals ever seen in Dublin. The requiem Mass was held in St. Patrick's Cathedral; afterwards, the funeral procession made its way to Glasnevin Cemetery. The entire time, the Captain's dog stayed beside his master's coffin. At the cemetery, when the grave was filled in, the Captain''s devoted companion lay on top and refused to move. He also refused to eat or drink and eventually, he died of starvation.<br /><br />A short time later, a memorial statue to Captain Boyd was erected in the Cathedral by the people of Dublin. Many times since then, a black Newfoundland dog has been seen sitting at the base of the statue. The ghost has also been seen lying on his master’s grave at nearby Glasnevin Cemetery.<br /><br />The black mark of Lord Tyrone<br />Nicola Hamilton and John, Second Earl of Tyrone, were both educated at the same school and had common interests, including the subject of life after death and astrology. They entered into a pact that if there was life beyond the grave, the one who died first would let the other one know. Lord Tyrone left school and lived the life of a recluse; Nicola married Sir Tristram Beresford.<br /><br />In October, 1693, Sir Tristram and Nicola were on an extended visit with Nicola's sister at Gill House in County Down. On Wednesday, October 15th, Sir Tristam rose early, left Nicola asleep, and went for a walk before breakfast. When he returned, he found his wife very agitated. Both Sir Tristram and Nicola's sister were worried about a possible injury to his wife's wrist as she had it covered with a black ribbon. Nicola asked her husband and her sister never to mention her wrist again, adding that she would always be wearing the ribbon and would never be seen without it.<br /><br />A few days later Nicola asked if any letters had been delivered for her. When asked why, she replied that she expected to learn of the death of Lord Tyrone, which she was sure had taken place the previous Tuesday. A short while later, a letter was delivered. The letter was from Lord Tyrone’s steward informing her that his master had died in Dublin the previous Tuesday, October 14th, 1693, at 4 pm.<br /><br />Lord Tyrone had appeared to Nicola when Sir Tristram was taking his pre-breakfast walk. His reason for returning was to honor the promise they had made when they had both been at school together. He then told her that she would bear Sir Tristram a son, would marry for a second time, and would die at the age of 47. All these predictions were to come true. Finally, to prove that he really was there, he placed his finger on her wrist. His touch left a black mark on the skin and the skin around it shrivelled. To hide the disfigurement, Nicola covered it with a black ribbon.<br /><br />Nicola never removed the ribbon until she was on her death bed. Her last request was to her son. She asked him to take the ribbon off. There, indeed, was a black mark and the skin surrounding it was shrivelled.<br /><br />The apparition that saved a life<br /><br />In the 1880s, Lord Dufferin, who was later to become British Ambassador to Paris, was on vacation in Tullamore when he saw an apparition that was destined to save his life.<br /><br />One night, at about 2 o’clock in the morning, he was startled from a deep sleep. He got up, went to the window and saw, in the moonlight, a hunchbacked figure on the lawn, staggering under the weight of a coffin-shaped object. Lord Dufferin raced downstairs, out onto the lawn, and asked the figure what he was doing, what he was carrying and why was he there. As the man lifted his head, Lord Dufferin saw that he had an extremely ugly-looking face which was utterly repulsive. The figure then vanished before his eyes. The following morning, he told his host of his experience but his friend was at a complete loss to explain the strange man. Certainly, there had been no reports of a ghost at Tullamore.<br /><br />A few years later, Lord Dufferin was to attend a diplomatic function at the Grand Hotel in Paris. He waited at the elevator with his secretary and the hotel manager. Just as they were about to enter the elevator, Lord Dufferin drew back in horror and flatly refused to get on it. The elevator operator was the same man he had seen carrying the coffin on the lawn at his friend’s house in Tullamore. The elevator doors closed and the cage began its ascent. To fight crime was about the sanest part of my dream.<br /><br />All the rest of the dream, somewhere in the back you could hear Shamow, shamoo! As he jumped and pranced around in an alley, rooftop, or gods know where.  Shamow, Shamoo!<br />Shamow, shamoo!<br /><br />Other parts of my dream included me pacing in my bedroom while a falcon (a totem of mine from 1999 - 2001 years ago) hunkered under the blankets on the bed and yelled at me to turn out the light every time I hit the switch.  I would ask a question, place the length of the floor then back to the light and touch the switch.  The light would come on and I would no longer feel the need to ask the question.  Then the falcon, in human voice, would yell at me for turning on the light.  That they were trying to sleep.<br /><br />Meanwhile, out by bedroom window, which I would watch from, my cat Andora, would be running up and down the street running off the strays and attacking any that dare challenge her.  She does this to us once in a while, too ;D  but animal police show up and I whistle.  She runs up the 5-6 floors of fire escapes (we live in top floor of 2 story town home) and into my arms.  Before we get to the living room, the animal police are opening the front door – I am no longer wearing pants and cannot pull shirt down far enough.  They say they got a call about an unruly cat terrorizing the (stray) population and they need to take her in.  Andora is nuzzling into my hand and shoulder, trying to cuddle close and be sweat.  They are not buying it.  I say they cannot have her, she’s an indoor cat, and will stay inside for now on… they try to take her.<br /><br />Dream switch.<br /><br />Computers are delivered to my doc’s office (my bedroom/living room – no idea how the two rooms became one), and they are blue and light blue, with almost lavender hues.  New, fancy, Lisa Simpson thinks they absolutely inspiring.  Press the port buttons and they extend like a telescope, accept things all the way to debit cards.  Unloading them, one falls and the front comes off.  Inside is a straw nest and white doves/carrier pigeons.  One full grown, one middle, and one egg, soft like sea turtle eggs and shell is broken.  Lisa is heart broken and set in activist mode, I am trying to figure out why anyone would put carrier pigeons in a computer.<br /><br />Dream gets chaotic here, and I choose to omit a few events (creepy to me even now).<br /><br />At one point, a few of us end up in a bath house… don’t ask, don’t know… afterwards, I am last one out; There's hope - but I also get the feeling that your son is emotionally defeated right now and is literally lost, not just to you, but to himself. He doesn't think he can come home. I'm getting that you should have hope, but that you may have to travel to get to him. <br /><br />You will have a reunion with your son, but it may not be as joyous as you're hoping for. Your son is carrying a load which is too heavy for him and he's not sure just how to get from under it. There's some sort of legal situation involved here. I don't quite know if there will be police action or lawsuits involved, or if they have already happened. Because a “diet” isn’t something you go on and go off of, like a prescription. A diet is what you eat, day in and day out, whether you planned to eat that way or not. So when people ask me what kind of “diet” they should follow, I always tell them to follow the one they’re already on—the way you like to eat is the way you should eat. In researching the Eat This, Not That! book series and seeing people lose 10, 20, 30 pounds or more effortlessly, I've learned that if you want to make big changes to your health, forget about following somebody else’s diet. Eat protein at every meal. Dieters who eat the most protein tend to lose more weight while feeling less deprived than those who eat the least protein. It appears that protein is the best nutrient for jumpstarting your metabolism, squashing your appetite, and helping you eat less at subsequent meals.<br /><br />Protein<br /><br />6. Choose whole-grain bread. Eating whole grains (versus refined-grain or white bread) has been linked to lower risks of cancer and heart disease.<br /><br />7. Think fish. (I recommend nonfat or 1 percent milk.)<br /><br />20. Take a zinc supplement. Just 15 milligrams of zinc a day (the amount found in a Centrum Ultra multivitamin, for example) will motivate your immune cells to produce more of a protein that fights off bacterial infections.<br /><br />21. Go ahead, eat your favorite foods. Good eating doesn't need to be about deprivation—it's about making smart choices. Why eat a 1,000-calorie cheeseburger if a 500-calorie burger will satisfy you just the same? The bottom line: Eat foods that you enjoy, just not too much of them.<br /><br />22. Choose foods with the fewest ingredients. There are now more than 3,000 ingredients on the FDA's list of safe food additives—and any of these preservatives, artificial sweeteners and colorings and flavor enhancers could end up on your plate. The dark half begins at sunset on November 1st with Samhain and the cycle ends when the light half begins at sunset on May 1st, which is the festival of Bealtaine. Both festivals are closely linked, but in general, Samhain is considered to be the most important.<br /><br />In the old days, extensive preparations were made for the sharing of a communal feast that included the dearly departed as guests of honor. To enable them to come and go freely, all doors and windows were left unlatched; a special cake was made exclusively for their consumption, and a certain amount of other food was set aside just for them. This had to be left untouched by any mortal hand for the duration of the ritual period. Eating the food of the dead was considered to be a major sacrilege and it condemned the perpetrator to becoming a hungry spirit after death, forever banned from sharing in the Samhain feast.<br /><br />Beyond the great feast, the dead would also need to be entertained. Customs vary from one Celtic nation to another, but in general, while the young people played games associated with the rituals of Samhain, the elders reviewed all of the events of the past year for the benefit of those who had passed on. This was believed to encourage the dead to continue to take an interest in the affairs of the living.<br /><br />As at all turning points in the Celtic year, ancient lore tells us that the Gods draw near to earth at Samhain. In ancient Ireland, people extinguished their hearth fires and then gathered at the ritual center of their tribe to honor the gods with gifts and sacrifices. There, they waited for the Druids to light the new fire of the year. Then, personal prayers in the form of objects symbolizing the wishes of supplicants were cast into the blaze. At the end of the ceremonies, each member of the tribe took back to his or her home hearth a brand ignited from the new fire.<br /><br />Samhain fires have continued to light up the countryside down the centuries. In some areas, ashes from these bonfires were sprinkled on surrounding fields as a form of protection. The added bonus, of course, was that the ashes improved the soil.<br /><br />So how did Samhain become All Saints Day? As with many of the old festivals, Christianity stepped in to do whatever it could to eliminate pagan rituals. In this case, it was Pope Boniface who took the festival of the dead and made it the festival of all saints and martyrs. Originally it took place on May 13th, but a century later, Pope Gregory III shifted it to November. When Christianity came to Ireland, the church took a dim view of Druidic festivals and created the vigil of All Soul’s Evening, (or All Hallow’s Eve) on October 31st, the Feast of All Saints on November 1st, and All Souls Day on November 2nd.<br /><br />All three days were regarded as one of the most important times of the year and were celebrated throughout Ireland with feasting, merrymaking and divination games on Halloween, the completion of farming activities by Samhain, and rituals out of respect and remembrance for departed kinfolk on All Souls Day.<br /><br />In the old days, the ancients believed that on this night, hobgoblins, evil spirits and fairies traveled about the country in great numbers. For protection against fairy mischief, holy water was sprinkled on animals, food offerings were left outside the house, oatmeal and salt were put on the heads of children, iron or a dead ember from the fire was put in an infant’s cradle, and little ones were taught not to eat wild fruits on this night, or afterwards, because it was believed that the Puca, a particularly nasty spirit, went about spitting or urinating on them. It was also the custom to make a special cross called a Parshell. Two small sticks were laid crosswise and shafts of wheat were woven around the junction until the cross was secured. It was then hung over the door on the inside of the house to help protect the family from illness, bad luck and witchcraft until the next Halloween when a new cross would be made. The old cross would then be moved to another part of the house.<br />'Everyone has debts at Halloween' is an old Irish proverb and this was a time when people attempted to settle up. Workers were paid, as was the rent, and farm folk secured crops and livestock for the hard winter to come. While the adults were completing these chores, children visited relatives and friends and were given gifts of apples and nuts. They also played lots of games. One divination game, which was very popular, called for all the unmarried young people to fasten an apple apiece on a string and twirl it around before a hot fire. The one whose apple fell off first would be the first to marry; he or she whose apple remained until the the end would die unwed. If an apple was peeled in one long strip, and the peeling thrown backwards over the left shoulder, the shape it made as it lay on the ground showed the initial of the future spouse. Another method of divination was for the inquirer to stick pips on her cheek, naming each for a possible husband. The one that stayed there longest denoted the mate to be. Or a pip similarly named could be placed on the bars of the fire, with the words:<br />If you love me, bounce and fly,<br />If you hate me, lie and die.<br /><br />Other activities included bobbing for apples which is still popular today, and snap apple which is trying to take a bite of an apple hanging on a string.<br />For many centuries, Hallowe’en was a day of abstinence, when no meat was eaten. But that doesn’t mean Irish households didn’t enjoy the best of other foods. Even in the poorest of homes, the wife would make every effort to prepare a special meal for the family, and more prosperous neighbors would be certain to help her achieve it with gifts of milk, butter, vegetables and other ingredients.<br />A favorite traditional dish of yesteryear which is still popular, is [url=http://www.irishcultureandcustoms.com/2Kitch/rPotatoes.html#Colcannon]Colcannon[/url] and it’s very easy to make. Boiled potatoes are mashed and then mixed with cooked green cabbage and chopped scallions. Whether served in individual bowls or from a common dish, the custom is to dip a spoonful of the potato mixture into the butter before eating it.<br />Other traditional dishes are stampy, which is a sweet cake made by blending grated, raw potatoes with flour and flavoring with sugar, caraway seeds and cream; boxty, which is the savory version of stampy, apple cakes and [url=http://www.irishcultureandcustoms.com/2Kitch/rBreads.html]barmbrack[/url], which is a rich fruit bread. It’s also fairly certain that many of them will be disguised as their favorite TV or video heroes and heroines and that they’ll pester their moms and dads to outdo the neighbors when it comes to decorations. Still, many of the old customs are still observed, especially in the more rural areas.<br /><br />While Pokemon and other contemporary characters may be the latest fad in costumes, the old-fashioned ones like witches, ghosts and goblins are still the most popular. Wearing costumes dates back to the time of the Druids who believed that the living and the dead were at their closest on the night before Samhain and that evil spirits would attempt to collect as many souls as they could. By disguising themselves as members of the spirit world, the people of ancient Ireland hoped to confuse any devils that might be abroad and thus, avoid being carried off. Another way to make an evil spirit release any souls held captive was to throw the dust from under your feet at it! And if you’ve ever wondered where we get the tradition of carving pumpkins, it dates back to 18th-century Ireland, when a mean and nasty blacksmith named Jack was denied entry into heaven.<br /><br />He was so rotten that the devil didn’t want Jack in hell either —  too much competition for him! So Jack’s spirit was condemned to wander the earth for eternity. But one request the devil did grant Jack was to give him something to light his way. What he got was a burning coal ember which Jack placed inside a carved out turnip. Thus, the tradition of the Jack O’ Lantern was born. To this day, people in Ireland still carve out turnips and illuminate them with stumps of candle. They’re then placed in a window or put on a gate post outside the house. Here in the United States, the custom was continued by millions of Irish emigrants who carved out pumpkins because they were a lot more plentiful than turnips.<br /><br />Want to find out if you and your family will be in good health until next Hallowe’en? Each person takes a perfect ivy leaf and places it in a cup of water where it is left undisturbed until the next morning. If a family member’s leaf is still perfect and doesn’t have any spots on it, he or she should be in fine shape for the next 12 months.<br /><br />Or perhaps you’re single and in search of a spouse? In the old days, if a man or woman dropped a tress of hair into the Hallow e’en bonfire, he or she would dream of their future love that night. It was also customary for country girls to be blindfolded and then led into a field where they were supposed to pull the first cabbage they could find. If the cabbage head had a lot of dirt attached to the roots, their future loved one would be wealthy. And eating the cabbage would reveal his nature - bitter or sweet!<br /><br />There is one last Hallowe’en custom or 'custom to be' perhaps. In Halloween Part One, it was mentioned that Colcannon was the traditional dish served on this night. It still is - but with a relatively modern twist. Nowadays, in many parts of Ireland, clean coins are wrapped in waxed paper and dropped into the potato mixture for children to find and keep.
